JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Location Of Services: Mount Vernon City School District
  • Hours Per Week: 37.5
  • Dates of Contract: April 13th, 2026 – June 26th, 2026
  • Additional: School Medical Director Nurse Practitioner

REQUIREMENTS

  • NP: Completed an accredited Nurse Practitioner program; 1 year of previous educational nursing experience preferred
  • Certification in Basic Life Support.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid New York State NP license
  • Current continuing education required by the state
  • Licensed to prescribe medication, if needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide nursing services in a school setting.
  • Responsible for maintaining confidentiality and accurate documentation.
  • Respond to emergencies, assess circumstances and conditions, and treat appropriately within school guidelines and protocols.
  • Provide physicals: Committee on Special Education (CSE), Sports, and Working Papers
  • Provide referrals to Primary Care Providers.
  • Communicate with the school nurse to provide follow-up on referrals.
  • Sign off on CSE orders.
  • Participate as a member of a sub-committee of the School Health Council.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by district.
  • Manage the administrative functions related to conducting the immunization process on a district level, as well as participate in IEP conferences, as needed.
