JOB DESCRIPTION
- Location Of Services: St. Croix, USVI
- Hours Per Week: 40 hours
- Dates of Contract: 2026 – 2027 School Year
- Additional: Assignment will be supporting approximately 8 students at various school sites within VIDE STX. Due to the smaller caseload, full-time TVI’s may be requested to assist SPED Department with other functions.

REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Teacher of the Visually Impaired Certification
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Assess students’ functional vision, learning media, and assistive technology needs to support educational access.
- Adapt curriculum materials and classroom activities into accessible formats, including braille, large print, tactile graphics, and digital/assistive technology.
- Teach students skills for independence, including orientation and mobility (in collaboration with certified specialists), self-advocacy, and daily living skills.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special educators, parents, and related service providers to integrate accommodations and modifications into classroom instruction.
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions, providing recommendations to support students’ academic and functional goals.
- Train and support staff in effective strategies, accommodations, and technologies for students with visual impairments.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, instructional plans, progress monitoring, and compliance reports.
- Stay current with best practices in visual impairment education through ongoing professional development and research
