JOB DESCRIPTION
Orange Tree Staffing is seeking a Teacher of the Visually Impaired to “Build and Inspire Growth” by providing education-based services to students at Virgin Islands Department of Education – St. Thomas | St. John. As a , you will assess students’ skills to determine their needs and develop teaching plans to meet them, including:
Responsible for evaluating eligibility for special education services within a multidisciplinary team.
Participates in developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), including measurable goals and objectives for each student’s needs as applicable to the educational setting.
Collect and analyze data related to school improvement, student outcomes, and accountability requirements.
Conduct assessments including but not limited to Visual Acuity Test, Visual Fields Test, Achievement Test, Contrasts Sensitivity Test, Color Visions Test, and Binocular Function Test, and completion of VI/OM reports.
Record keeping for student attendance in counseling sessions.
Interpret evaluative data to establish measurable goals for the students.
Establishes and maintains a positive collaborative relationship with students, school staff, and families to increase student achievement.
Performs other duties as assigned.
