REQUIREMENTS
- Valid DHH (Deaf and Hard of Hearing) Certification
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, in alignment with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Assess students’ communication, auditory, and academic needs to support access to the curriculum and educational environment.
- Adapt and modify instructional materials using visual, auditory, and/or signed communication methods to meet students’ learning needs.
- Support the development of language, literacy, self-advocacy, and social skills to promote independence and academic success.
- Collaborate with general and special education teachers, interpreters, audiologists, parents, and related service providers to implement strategies and accommodations.
- Participate in IEP meetings and team discussions, providing input on communication access, assistive technology, and individualized supports.
- Provide training and resources to staff on strategies for working effectively with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, instructional plans, student progress, and compliance reports.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices in Deaf education, communication strategies, and assistive technology.
