JOB DESCRIPTION



Orange Tree Staffing is seeking Special Education Teachers to “Build and Inspire Growth” by providing education-based services to students at Amistad High School (CT).  As a Special Education Teacher, you will work collaboratively with students, parents, and other educators to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of special education principles, effective teaching strategies, and a commitment to fostering the academic and social development of all students.

REQUIREMENTS

    • Special education certification in the state of Connecticut (165) required
    • Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field required; Maste’s degree preferred
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience teaching special education in a school setting
    • Familiarity with CT-SEDs and state/federal special education laws and regulations
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate directly and effectively with colleagues, parents and external stakeholders
    • Organization skills and attention to detail for maintaining accurate student records and documentations
    • Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Case management of students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPS) and 504s at the elementary school level.
    • Conducting and facilitating meetings with teachers, staff and parents to develop and review IEPs and 504 plans.
    • Collaborating with teachers and staff to implement effective strategies and accommodations to support students with special needs in the general education classroom.
    • Providing training and support to teachers and staff on best practice,es for inclusive education and differentiated instruction
    • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records and documentation for students receiving special education services
    • Ensuring compliance with special education hours and related services
    • Serving as a liaison between the school, family and the New Haven Board of Education for the planning and coordination of PPT meetings
    • Teaching special education classes and providing hours to students with IEPs in Site 1 and 2 settings
