JOB DESCRIPTION

‎Orange Tree Staffing is seeking Sign Language Interpreter to “Build and Inspire Growth” by providing education-based services to students at Memphis-Shelby County Public Schools. As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a crucial role in facilitating communication between individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing and those who are hearing. You will interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa in various settings, ensuring effective and accurate communication.

REQUIREMENTS (Must meet one of following options) 

• • Hold at a minimum an associate’s degree.
  • Obtain a passing score on the written portion of the EIPA; and
  • Obtain a minimum score of 3.0 on the performance assessment portion of the EIPA.

OR

• • Hold a valid Tennessee School Services Personnel license with the appropriate endorsement

RESPONSIBILITIES 

• • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant sign language(s).
  • Certification or licensure as a sign language interpreter (e.g., RID certification).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent listening and comprehension skills.
  • Cultural competence and sensitivity to the needs of individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Flexibility to work in various settings and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Previous experience as a sign language interpreter in a school based setting preferred
