JOB DESCRIPTION 

Orange Tree Staffing is seeking Paraprofessionals to “Build and Inspire Growth” by providing education-based services for students at . As a Paraprofessional, you will collaborate closely with teachers and other school staff to enhance the overall learning experience for students. The successful candidate will contribute to creating a positive and inclusive educational environment. Services would be: 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide services to students in instructional and classroom activities at the direction of the special education and general education teacher.
    • Assist with direct academic, functional, and specifically designed instructional or physical activities.
    • Tutor individual students and help them prepare assignments or explain material they do not understand.
    • Supervise and accompany special education students to the office, bus, classroom, cafeteria, etc.
    • Communicate regularly with classroom teachers and parents regarding student’s needs and progress.
    • Provide clerical support to teachers, including, but not limited to, creating photocopies, preparing materials, etc.
    • Some positions may require the employee to be able to stay with excessively disruptive or aggressive students, during which time the employee may need to restrain, hold, lift, apply physical management techniques, and crisis intervention techniques for the student.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

    • Certificate of completing a teaching assistant class, AND
      Passing score on ParaPro Exam OR college transcripts with at least 60 earned credit
    • Work with children who have special needs in a sensitive and effective manner.
    • Learn assigned duties readily and adhere to prescribed classroom procedures.
    • Respond simultaneously to various needs for students and staff while maintaining a high degree of sensitivity to individual needs.
    • Assists the teacher in providing instruction to individuals with behavioral challenges.
    • Supervises students in a designated de-escalation area with other adults in safe proximity.
    • Supports students when rejoining a group following de-escalation time.
    • Under the direction of appropriate professionals, follows through with IEP goals and supplementary services such as, but not limited to OT, PT, and Speech/Language.
    • As instructed by the teacher, records and reports data on student behavior and performance.
