JOB DESCRIPTION
Orange Tree Staffing is seeking a Orientation & Mobility Specialist to “Build and Inspire Growth” by providing education-based services to students. The O&M Specialist will assess students’ skills to determine their needs and develop teaching plans to meet them. We are seeking those who enjoy working with a bright and dedicated multi-disciplinary team that focuses on life-long learning.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct thorough mobility and orientation assessments.
- Develop personalized training plans based on assessments.
- Teach safe and effective mobility aid usage.
- Instruct clients in street crossing and public transportation navigation.
- Help clients build a mental map of their environment.
- Enhance sensory skills like auditory and tactile perception.
- Collaborate with other professionals for comprehensive support.
- Maintain detailed records of client progress and assessments.
- Stay updated on latest orientation and mobility advancements.
SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS
- Valid Arizona Special Education Teacher’s Certification for Orientation & Mobility
- Valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Social Security Card
- Bachelors Degree
- Valid Drivers License
- Proven experience as a an O&M Specialist
- Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines partnered with a willingness to follow school policies and procedures
- Excellent communicability and interpersonal skills
- Well-organized and committed
- Creative and energetic
- Strong moral values and discipline
