JOB PURPOSE
School Nurse Practitioner: Provide nursing services in a school setting. Responsible for maintaining confidentiality and accurate documentation. Respond to emergencies, assess circumstances and conditions, and treat appropriately within school guidelines and protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS

- NP: Completed an accredited Nurse Practitioner program; 1 year of previous educational nursing experience preferred
- Certification in Basic Life Support.
- Must possess and maintain a valid New York State NP license
- Current continuing education required by the state
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to communicate effectively using written and oral communication skills; ability to use effective positive interpersonal skills; ability to assist students with managing their chronic health conditions in the school environment; ability to collaborate with school personnel in a positive and proactive way
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide physicals: Committee on Special Education (CSE), Sports, and Working Papers
- Provide referrals to Primary Care Providers.
- Communicate with the school nurse to provide follow-up on referrals.
- Sign off on CSE orders.
- Participate as a member of a sub-committee of the School Health Council.
- Perform other duties as assigned by district.
