JOB PURPOSE
Clinic Nurse: Provide first aid and nursing services in a school setting. Responsible for maintaining confidentiality and accurate documentation. Respond to emergencies, assess circumstances and conditions, and then treat appropriately within school guidelines and protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS
LVN: Completed an accredited LVN program; 1 year of previous nursing experience preferred
Certification in Basic Life Support.
Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Board of Nursing LVN license
Current continuing education required by the state
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to communicate effectively using written and oral communication skills; ability to use effective positive interpersonal skills; ability to assist students with managing their chronic health conditions in the school environment; ability to collaborate with school personnel in a positive and proactive way
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement a collaborative coaching and learning approach to create safe school clinics.
Charts and maintains accurate records of activities, i.e., medications dispensed, incident reports, nursing notes, daily treatments, and interventions.
Monitors materials and medications to ensure appropriate supply levels.
Ensures the safe and sanitary conditions of the school clinic.
Collaborates with teaching staff for the health and safety of all students.
Maintains contact with teachers, parents, and administrators
Support school clinics and medically fragile students as needed.
Assist in updating district medical documents.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
