JOB PURPOSE
1:1 Nursing Services: To provide medical care and services to students according to physician-prescribed medical care and treatment orders. Responsible for addressing medical emergencies, assessing circumstances and conditions, and resolving such according to established procedures and protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS
LPN: Completed an accredited LPN program; 1 year of previous nursing experience preferred
Certification in Basic Life Support.
Must possess and maintain a valid Maryland Department of Health LPN license
Current continuing education required by the state
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to communicate effectively using written and oral communication skills; ability to use effective positive interpersonal skills; ability to assist students with managing their chronic health conditions in the school environment; ability to collaborate with school personnel in a positive and proactive way

Supervising RN & School Administration
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs basic first aid measures
Cleans medical supplies according to proper sanitation procedures, i.e., syringes, breathing, apparatus, and medical dispensers.
Review student’s individual doctors’ orders to ensure accuracy and understanding of the treatment plan
Prepares medications for administration and dispenses such to students following physician orders and established time schedules.
Monitor, assist, and administer insulin to diabetics. Administers various treatments in the instance of low/high glucose levels.
Charts and maintains accurate records of activities performed, i.e., medications dispensed, incident reports, nursing notes, daily treatments, and interventions.
Maintains contact with teachers, parents, and administrators to advise and/or direct meetings with medically fragile students, health plans, and clinic safety.
Assists in updating district medical documents.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
