REQUIREMENTS
- RBT or BCaBA Certification
- Bachelor’s degree and school experience required in a related field.
- Experience working with students with emotional disabilities and the autism spectrum disorder
- Training in nonviolent crisis intervention and de-escalation (CPI or equivalent), or the ability to complete training within a month of hire
- Knowledge of principles of Evidence-Based Behavioral Practices and functional behavior assessment
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and walk for extensive periods of time, and lift at least 50 pounds.
- Must be capable of physically intervening in student altercations, using physical restraints or control methods to quell a disturbance and ensure the safety of those involved.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support behavioral assessments by assisting school psychologists with Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) to identify behavior functions and influencing variables.
- Develop behavior plans by helping teachers create individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and measurable goals based on assessment data.
- Implement evidence-based interventions across individual, small-group, and classroom settings.
- Provide direct student support to build social, emotional, and self-regulation skills using positive behavior supports and de-escalation strategies.
- Respond to and manage crises by providing calm, effective crisis intervention and supporting individualized crisis plans aligned with IEPs.
- Collaborate with school teams, including teachers, administrators, psychologists, and related service providers, and contribute to IEP meetings with data-driven recommendations.
- Train and coach school staff on behavior strategies, classroom management, and data collection while staying current on best practices and special education law.
- Maintain documentation and compliance by accurately recording assessments and interventions and ensuring adherence to federal, state, and district regulations.
